Hi, this is Edie! I’m Christy’s sister, her co-publisher and an avid reader. I wanted to share my quick review of By the Book by Jasmine Guillory.
By the Book is a super cute read and it’s the perfect book if you’re looking for something light and fun. It’s the second book of Disney Press’s Meant to Be series, where Jasmine Guillory writes her spin on The Beauty and the Beast tale with several references to it as well.
True to storybook style, the story is told in third person where sunshiny Isabelle, struggles with what to do next in her career at the publishing house TAOAT, Tale as Old Time. In hopes of getting ahead and figuring out if she even wants to stay in publishing, Izzy volunteers to help one of her boss’s most troublesome writers, the famous beastly bad boy celebrity Beau Towers, write his memoir.
This book sparked my love of reading with snacks with its many tasty carbolicious treats throughout the story. If you’re a snacking reader like me, you better come prepared!
It’s a very slow burn romance and definitely on the PG side of the Disney brand as far as schmexy times, but the story and the main characters’ chemistry are thoroughly enjoyable.
If you love grumpy sunshine, Disney HEA, you’re going to want to add By the Book to your TBR.
